Hello everyone, and welcome to our new Arms Embargo Now - St. John’s email list!

Thank you so much for attending our Townhall earlier in the month. What an amazing event with so many new faces and so much incredible energy. 

We want to continue our efforts towards an Arms Embargo and to capture the motivation all of you brought to that meeting. 

To this end, we have two upcoming events to tell you about, and we very much hope you will be able to attend.

Event 1

FLYER DROPS

On Thursday, August 28 we will be meeting at Victoria Park at 6pm. There will be some light food and drinks to fuel us. Then we will go out in small groups of 2-3 people to do drop some Arms Embargo info flyers in mailboxes and in car windshield throughout the neighbourhood.

If you can commit an hour or two of time to attend this event, please let us know. We will provide food, drinks, flyers, and encouragement.

This is a low-risk, low-participation event. We don’t have to knock on doors or talk to people - we will just deliver our flyers and have nice conversations with new acquaintances while getting a bit of fresh air and our steps in!

Event 2

COMMUNITY MEETING

Save the date for Thursday, September 11th when we will host a Community Meeting. The location is still to be determined but we will update you on that shortly. Light food and drinks will be provided and this will be much more interactive than the townhall, with lots of space for you to ask questions, propose ideas, and help build our movement. 

We will also do brief canvassing workshops in small groups to help people get comfortable with the idea of talking to others. Then, at the end of our meeting, small groups can go out and flyer in the neighbourhood - dropping off our info flyers at surrounding houses and parked vehicles.

We were so honoured and overwhelmed by the outpouring of interest in support at the Townhall in early August. Lets continue to build together so that we can soon win our aim of ending Canada’s complicity in the genocide.
